Chess Board Set Up
With the chess board in front of
you, the square on your far right in the row
closest to you
should be a light color. Hence, the phrase, "white on
right". As shown below, this
applies
to both Player 1 and Player 2.
Another important setup rule is
that the Queen must also be on its own color which means
that the light Queen must be on a light square and a dark Queen on a dark square.
This, of course, means that the opposing
Kings and Queens will be facing each other. |
